A woman on a video call on a laptop

Your closing package is ready, but you are three states away. A decade ago that meant overnight envelopes and missed deadlines. Today a remote online notarization — a live audio-video session with a commissioned notary, credential analysis, and a tamper-evident digital seal — carries the same legal weight as an in-person signing in Colorado and is recognized across state lines.

Here is exactly how a session with Quillpoint runs, and how to prepare so yours takes twenty minutes instead of fifty.

Before the Session

  • Upload your complete, unsigned documents through our secure link — never sign beforehand.
  • Have a valid driver's license or passport ready; the software photographs and analyzes it.
  • Join from a quiet, well-lit room with a stable connection and your camera on.
  • Answer a few identity-quiz questions drawn from public records — this is the knowledge-based check the law requires.

During the Session

The notary greets you on video, re-verifies your ID against your face, and confirms you understand each document and sign willingly. You apply an electronic signature while the notary watches, then the notary countersigns and affixes a digital seal backed by a cryptographic certificate. The entire session is recorded and journaled, and the recording is retained under strict access controls.

Remote doesn't mean casual. Every safeguard of an in-person signing — identity, willingness, witness, record — happens on camera.

After the Session

You receive the tamper-sealed electronic original immediately, plus instructions for any recording office or recipient. Paper-certified copies can be mailed the same day. If a recipient questions the format, our team provides the statutory references confirming its validity — though in practice, that almost never happens anymore.

First remote signing coming up? Book a session and choose video at checkout. We will walk you through the tech check before the seal ever comes out.
